OBITUARY: Mary Rose Capps

Mary Rose Capps of Madison, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was 91 years old.

Born in Big Rock (Stewart County), TN to the late Samuel Roy and Rosa (Hargis) Killebrew, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband Rufus Capps; sister Hellen Chisom; and brothers Robert Herndon, Samuel Killebrew and Thomas Killebrew.

She is survived by her sons Steven Capps (Barbara), Roger Capps, Kevin Capps (Kara); grandchildren John Capps (Ashley), Mary Lynne Capps, Laura Capps, Lindy Capps; great-grandchildren Daniel Capps and Matthew Capps; sister Betty Davis Rains; and brother Lynn Killebrew. Mary Rose is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other beloved extended family and dear friends.

Mary Rose graduated from McEwen High School (Class of 1953), and also graduated from Falls Business College where she met Rufus.

Mary Rose proudly taught in the kindergarten program at the Madison Church of Christ for many years. Devoted to her family and her faith, Mary Rose enjoyed spending time with all of her grandkids and was a member of Jackson Park Church of Christ for the past 23 years. She was previously a member of the Madison Church of Christ where she taught Bible class for 33 consecutive years. Mary Rose rarely missed a little league or church basketball game when her children or grandkids were involved. She also loved cooking for family events and family meals. Our memories shared with Mary Rose will be cherished and she will always remain close to our heart.
