Martha Jane Brown Redding Obit

Martha Jane Brown Redding passed at her home in Cedar Hill, Tennessee with family present after an extended illness. She was 86 years old.

Martha Jane, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Louis Redding; two children, Harold Louis Redding Jr. (Diane), and Lisa Redding Smalling (Tony); six grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She is the 6th child of the late Hattie Jane Brown and James Minnis Brown. Martha Jane is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Paul Brown, Mary Lu Demerich, Jimmy Brown, Dorthye Hopkins, and Harvey Brown.

In her 86 years, Martha enjoyed gardening, traveling, and reading. But her greatest joy was her family and loving them well. Her kitchen table or porch is where life happened – many heartfelt talks, laughter, and tears were shared. As well as her sausage and biscuits. Her family was her joy, but her life’s goal was that they knew and believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Martha Jane went home in peace knowing her life’s work was accomplished. “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23.

Martha Jane’s graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, in Nashville on March 20, 2025, at 12pm in the Garden of Religion, presided by Pastor Eric Taylor of her home church, Cedar Hill Baptist. Her pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Talon Redding, Caleb Redding, Justin Elkins, Lauren Redding, Jesse Elkins, and Eli Redding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the benevolence fund of Cedar Hill Baptist.
