Martha Helen Brewer Dodson

Commonly known as “Helen,” was born, September 16, 1939, Smyrna, Tennessee. Passed quietly in her home on, May 1, 2026.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Helen Irene Mayberry Brewer. Her husband of 61 years, Gerald Lee Dodson. A son, Gerald Lee Dodson Jr. Sisters, Mary Barrett, Louise Barrett, and Florence (Billie) Brewer. Brothers, Marvin Brewer, Charles Brewer, Johnny Brewer, Tommy Brewer, and Foster Brewer.

Surviving family include:

Daughter – Cindy (Shane) Childers of Smithville, Tennessee.

4 Grandchildren – Josh Childers, Ryan Childers of Smithville, Tennessee, Brandon Dodson, and Austin Dodson of Fargo, North Dakota.

4 Great grandchildren – Travis Childers of Smithville, Tennessee, Xander Dodson, Kason Dodson, and Henlee Dodson of Fargo, North Dakota.

Sister – Margaret Brewer Barrett, of Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Sisters-in-law and adventure buddies – Mary Lawson and Sue Howell (Roger) of Sparta, Tennessee.

Special niece – Mollye Barrett, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Helen gave her life to Jesus in 1976 and was known as a fierce prayer warrior. She looked forward to the day she could go “home” to be with our Lord and Savior, and those loved ones, that went before her.
