Marsha Jean Cornish passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Born August 3, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, she embodied the spirit of warmth and togetherness throughout her life.

Marsha dedicated most of her professional career to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, where her desire to help others shined brightly. She played an instrumental role in assessing damage and dispersing funds, ensuring that those affected could recover and rebuild their lives. Her work not only illustrated her dedication but also highlighted her profound sense of responsibility to assist her fellow Tennesseans in times of need.

A fun-loving, family-oriented individual, Marsha enjoyed seeking any reason to gather her loved ones. Whether for birthdays, Thanksgiving, or her beloved holiday, Christmas, she always found a way to bring family together, creating precious memories that those who knew her will treasure.

Marsha’s passions extended beyond family gatherings; she found immense joy in spending time on the water. Whether aboard their houseboat on Old Hickory Lake or enjoying their condo in Panama City, Florida, she embraced the tranquility and happiness that these experiences brought her. Each year, she looked forward to leaving the day after Christmas to head to Panama City, where she and her family would spend weeks creating joyful moments together. As members of the Cumberland Old Hickory Yacht Club, Marsha enjoyed a sense of community and companionship among fellow boating enthusiasts.

Marsha Jean Cornish leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward her legacy of love and connection. She is survived by her son, Michael (Rebecca) Cornish; her daughter, Michele (Michael) Wikowsky; her grandchildren, Tiffany Simon, Tanner Simon, and Britney (Johnny) Weaver; as well as her great-grandchildren, Bentley Simon, Zoey Mowell, Dalton Mowell, Riley Weaver, and Ellie Mae Weaver. Also surviving are her beloved sisters, Doris (Craig) Allen and Vivian Stockman.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter A. Craddock and Jeanie McDougal Marshall Craddock; husband of 55 years Lee Halliwell Cornish, Jr.; sisters Debbie Craddock and Margaret Waynick.

Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
