Margaret “Peggy” Glosson Davis, age 73, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Born May 24, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to Howard and Betty (Irwin) Glosson, Peggy graduated from White Station High School, attended Auburn University, and completed her Master’s degree in Education at the University of Memphis.

As a little girl lining up her dolls, she knew she was meant to teach. Peggy taught for more than 40 years, beginning in Fayette County (TN) schools, then at the American Army base in Goeppingen Germany, returning to Nashville to teach at Vanderbilt Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, later joining Metro Nashville Public Schools as a Special Education teacher and consulting special education teacher (CSET) for a 30+ year career. She specialized in serving children with behavior disorders.

Wife of Andrew P. Davis for 52 years, mother of Megan Davis, both of Nashville, Peggy also leaves brother Robert “Bobby” Glosson of Kingwood, Texas, and brother Greg (Beth) Glosson of Memphis. Her brother Howard “Boot” (Sheila) Glosson of Donelson preceded her in death. She loved young people in her life, including her nieces Ginna Winstead, Eva Glosson, Katie Glosson, Kristin Lewis, and Ellen Freeman, and nephews Casey Glosson, Ryan Glosson, and Mark Freeman, goddaughter Nishta Mehra, and her daughter’s best friends since meeting on the Montessori Center playground at age 3, Rebecca Frey and Caitlin Weeks Boumrar.

Peggy delighted in celebrating every occasion and relishing the fun in each day. She loved craft shows and farmer’s markets; reading mysteries and magazines; watching “Jeopardy” and “Snapped”, as well as Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Chan; singing along to The Beach Boys, Al Jarreau, Motown and Broadway musicals; visiting the Florida Gulf Coast, state capitals and presidential libraries.

She was devoted to late night talk shows, diet coke, tote bags, SEC football (War Eagle!), cross stitch, wrapping the prettiest presents and tying the biggest bows, and of course, her excellent southern cooking.

Peggy’s recipes were published in the 1986 Original Tennessee Homecoming Cookbook and Family Circle magazine for her Gran’s Sweet Potato Rolls, in the first Cake Mix Doctor cookbook for her Amaretto Bundt Cake, and won an Iroquois Steeplechase tailgating contest for her chicken tortellini salad. In true Peggy style, her plates were as pretty as they were delicious.

A special initiate of the Chi Omega Fraternity, a loyal member of a dinner group that has met for 38 years, and of a TPAC theater group for more than fifteen years, Peggy was a steadfast friend and professional mentor to many.

Known as a thoughtful gift-giver, Peggy supported several charitable causes. She was so happy to have completed her annual Salvation Army Angel Tree gift adoptions last week. Her favorite charity was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the family asks for donations to be made in her memory in lieu of flowers.

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 6 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3001 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville 37204, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the Doubleday House, 7508 Old Harding Pike, Nashville 37221. There will be a private burial at Larkspur Conservation, Westmoreland, Tennessee.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.marshalldonnellycombs.com for the Davis family.
