Mr. Lynn Beasley age 81 of Hartsville died peacefully at the Westmoreland Care and Rehabilitation Center where he had made his home since June 25, 2024. He was pronounced deceased at 7:07 A.M. on Thursday morning January 16, 2025 by Alive Hospice.
His pastor, Eld. Brent Hall, assisted by his former pastor, Eld. Michael Nesbitt, will officiate the 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon January 19th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Beasley family lot in the Beasley-Brooks section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.
Visitation with the Beasley family will be on Saturday afternoon January 18th from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and again on Sunday from 10 a.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral services at Sanderson in Carthage.
Born James Lynn Beasley in Hartsville on Nov. 22, 1943, he was one of six children, four daughters and two sons of the late Jesse James Beasley who died December 17, 2014 at the age of 92 and Hazel William Toney Beasley who died at the age of 44 in an automobile accident which also killed their sixteen-month-old son Jerry Lee Beasley.
In addition to Mr. Beasley’s parents and infant brother, he was preceded in death by a son, John Ray “Johnny B.” Beasley who died at the age of 56 on October 18, 2009, and a step-son, Grady Carter who died at the age of 32 on June 18, 2008.
Mr. Beasley was saved at the age of 10 and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Enon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Hartsville where he remained a member until his death. In his early days he worked in fabrication of mobile homes for Fleetwood in Westmoreland, and retired from Builders First Source in Lebanon in 2018.
Surviving is his companion of over twenty-seven years, the former Melba June Wix Carter; son, James Lynn (Shorty) Beasley II of the Castalian Springs Community; two daughters, Mary Lynn Beasley Claridy of Hartsville, Deborah Beasley Woodall and husband Steve of Gallatin; four sisters, Ruthie Beasley East of Lafayette, Mary Beasley of the Pleasant Shadde Community, Carolyn Beasley Bringhurst and husband Eugene of the Castalian Springs Community, Gail Beasley Woodard of the Cato Community; brother, Dean Beasley of Lafayette; step-son, Greg Carter and wife Erin of Bethpage; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Teddy Jewell, Atlas Barber, David Adcock, Allen Wall, Justin Beasley, Blake Carter.
