Louwanna Mabery Obit

Mrs. Louwanna Mabery transitioned from her early journey to her heavenly home at 3 a.m. Saturday morning with her family at her bedside. She was pronounced deceased at 3:55 a.m. September 28, 2024 by Caris Hospice of Cookeville. Mrs. Mabery was 62 and suffered from a malignant neoplasm of the lung.

A longtime family friend, Eld. Dewey Dyer, will officiate at the 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon October 1st funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Following the funeral services, she will be cremated at Cumberland Family Services in Algood.

The Mabery family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage only on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral services.

The youngest of nine children of the late John Monroe Harris Jr. who died at the age of 56 on July 27, 1980 and Belle Zona Silcox Harris who died at the age of 77 on September 19, 2005, she was born Louwanna Harris in Carthage on February 13, 1962.

Four of her eight siblings preceded her in death. They were Pauline Harris who died as a 6-month-old infant, Myrtle Rhea Harris Reece who died January 3, 2011 at the age of 64, John Morgan “Spud” Harris who died January 26, 2023 at the age of 65 and Frances Louise Harris Ballard who died June 10, 2024 at the age of 74.

In Hartsville on August 11, 1978, she was united in marriage to James Ray Mabery.

She was a recipient of her General Education Degree and was a non-denominational Christian who had a strong connection to her God and his son Jesus Christ.

She and her husband loved the Great Smokey Mountains and she had made one trip to see the ocean in Panama City, Florida, which she and the family thoroughly enjoyed.

Mrs. Mabery retired from the Asurion Corporation in Mount Juliet in 2012 where she was employed as a logistic specialist, a position she held for six years before her retirement.

Surviving in addition to her husband, James of over forty-six years, are their three children, Melanie Preston of the LaGuardo Community in Wilson County, Rebecca Mabery and Rachel Mabery Thompson and husband David, all of Gordonsville; four siblings, George Harris and wife Lou of Hartsville, Paul Harris and wife Ruby of Gordonsville, Donna Harris Lima and husband Paul of Murfreesboro, Anna Harris King and husband Mike of Mount Juliet; six grandchildren, Nicole DeSalle and husband Donte of Murfreesboro, Danielle Nixon of Lebanon, David Thompson and fiancée Sidney Jones of Gordonsville and Emma Thompson of Gordonsville, Jasmine Green and Terrence Green both of the LaGuardo Community; one great-grandchild, Xander Cook of Murfreesboro; a niece and nephew that Louwanna and James raised, Brooke Grisham and her son Will Grisham, Anthony Gibbs and partner Jana Blair and their two children, Raelee and Blair Gibbs, all of Carthage.

The Mabery family has requested memorials to assist with the funeral expenses.
