Leon Tunstall of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, he was 81 years old.

Preceded in death by his father, Filmore Tunstall; mother, Eliza Viola Box; wife, Doris Tunstall; siblings, Opal Tunstall, Ruby Essary, Floyd Tunstall, Cancel “CR” Tunstall and Levon Tunstall; half siblings, Selmer Brannum, Almer Brannum, and Earsel Brannum.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Leon Tunstall and Benita Carol Stotler; grandchildren, Stephen Jacob Tunstall and Alanna (Aaron) DePriest; great-grandchildren, Aiyana DePriest and Aaron DePriest Jr.

After High School, where he was a member of Future Farmers of America, he enlisted in the US Air Force. While serving in 1963, he married Doris.

After his discharge, he went to school to become an insurance adjuster in Rochell, IL. He worked in Aurora, IL, as an adjuster before moving back to Arkansas in 1969.

Later, he built his home in Poplar Bluff, MO, but had a devastating fire in 1972 that destroyed everything.

He then moved to St. Louis, MO, where he lived from 1973-until he moved to Nashville in 1994, to pursue songwriting and ended up working directly with many well know country stars including, Trace Adkins, Darrell Singletary, and Stacy B. He was well known and respected in the music industry.

He was a devoted grandfather who was genuinely loved by both sides of his family, who always had a guitar in his hands, and was always playing a song.

In 1973 he graduated from Three Rivers Community College, was a member of the American Society of Farm Equipment Appraisers, and was also a Mason.

Services are to be announced and will take place in Pocahontas, AR.
