Lavinia Jones Fillebrown passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 following a brief illness.
Lavinia was born June 13, 1926 to Margaret McDaniel Jones and Ralph Culbert Jones in Nashville, TN.
She graduated from Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Bradford Junior College in Massachusetts, and attended Vanderbilt University. Lavinia married Thomas Scott Fillebrown, Jr. in 1948. They had a long, supportive, and happy marriage until his death on December 26, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law Dudley McMurray and Bill Coombs and is survived by her daughters Peggy McMurray, Bea Isenhour, Ellen Vaughn (Tim), and Scottie Coombs.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Sallie Simpson (Paul), Will McMurray (Drennon), Tee Isenhour (Lauren), Sara Washburn (Scott), Timothy Vaughn, Scott Vaughn, Lauren Barnacastle (Jon), Hudson Coombs, and Marguerite Coombs, and great-grandchildren Anna Simpson, Mary Coleman and Dudley McMurray, Coco and Porter Isenhour, Tommy and Maggie Washburn, and Ruth Barnacastle.
Lavinia was a devoted and longtime communicant of St. George’s Episcopal Church, having served on the Altar Guild, as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and a greeter at church. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of Tennessee, the Campbell Chapter of the DAR, the Centennial Club, the Stoneycrest Garden Club, and the Canby Robinson Society of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She served on the boards of the Centennial Club and Historic Travellers Rest. Lavinia loved her family, her two bridge clubs, playing tennis for many years, and her time spent in Longboat Key, FL.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodcrest at Blakeford for their loving care, especially Marsha, Abby, Tanya, Sierra, Richard, and Dee.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
