Laura Towey Pritchett, born August 20, 1956, passed away in Nashville, TN on November 8, 2023.

Laura was born in Ft. Benning, GA while her father, John Towey, Sr., was in the Army and stationed there.

She was the oldest of six children. After Georgia the young (and growing) family lived a few years in Germany before John left the Army and returned home to the city of Mobile, AL. Laura attended Holy Family Catholic School and John Shaw High School in Mobile. In high school, Laura was valedictorian of the Shaw High graduating class of 1974. A National Merit Scholarship winner, Laura attended the University of Alabama, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1978. She was a proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, living in the “round house” on campus her last two years.

Laura was selected to be a Mobile Azalea Trail Maid her senior year in high school, and was a member of the Mobile Carnival Association Mardi Gras court in 1979. She was also a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Nashville, and long-time member of MENSA.

Upon graduation from Alabama Laura worked for the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile. Later in her career she worked for HCA Medical hospitals in Ocala and Pensacola before moving to the HCA corporate office in Nashville. After a lengthy tenure with HCA she concluded her professional career with Wipro Limited in Nashville.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, John Towey, Sr. and her mother, Dolores (Tay) Duffy Frankenberger.

Laura is survived by her husband Thomas Pritchett, Jr. of Nashville, TN; and five loving siblings: John Towey, Jr. (Tarpon Springs, FL), Jim Towey (Orange Beach, AL), Matt Towey (Alabaster, AL), Sheila Gray (Mobile, AL), and Sarah Towey (Mobile, AL). She is also survived by stepchildren Thomas Pritchett, III (Nashville), Barbara White (Nashville), Katie Tudor-Thomas (Hamilton, Bermuda), and William Pritchett (Nashville); She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, and dear cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held in Mobile, AL on November 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral mass at 1:30 PM. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com
