Laura Ann ‘Hottie’ Martin, age 62 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Preceded in death by mother, Geraldine Weatherford, by father, James A. Weatherford, by father, Wesley Kelley, and by cat-companion, George.
Survived by husband, David ‘Brent’ Martin Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. Pope and Ruven ‘Leo’ Espinoza; son and daughter-in-law, David ‘Bud’ Martin Jr. and Amy Martin; grandchildren, great-grandson, and grandson-in-law – Herman E. Brachey Jr., Brittany A. Brachey, Declan J. Vickers, and Blade Vickers; sisters, Wilma D. Brown, Teresa L. Brown, and Freda L. Weatherford; several nieces and nephews; and by dog-companion, Leo.
Laura was especially known and remembered for her work done in childcare; she shaped and impacted many children; she was known to them as ‘Granny’ when she worked alongside ‘Nana’ (Rita) for many years. Outside of work, Laura along with David helped raise her grandchildren – Herman and Brittany; without her presence, they would have missed out on spending quality time with a beautiful human-being that was Laura, and a lot would be different in their individual lives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Pike, by Dr. Kristin Baese of Lipscomb University. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
