Kingston Lewis McWilliams (Sunny), beloved son of Ashley Hickman, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2026.
Kingston was a loving, imaginative, and energetic force. He was his own little man, fiercely independent and strong-willed but was a patient teacher of smaller children and tender and protective of his “little cousins.” He loved basketball, action figures, especially Spiderman, and monster trucks. He was a constant acrobat, climbing, jumping, tumbling, or dancing. Kingston loved playing outdoors, riding his bike or just finding a downed tree branch that he could bang into smaller pieces. He created 3-dimensional models from paper and cardboard. He hated not being connected to the internet, so when he was creating his projects, he always included a designated area “where the Wi-Fi connection will be.” Kingston loved all kinds of music. He played his guitar with gusto and could be heard singing if he thought no one was listening. He loved “rocking out” with his uncle Brady. He had imaginary dance parties in his room with his stuffies in attendance. He was just learning to read and would sit with a book and point out the words he knew. Like his singing, he did this quietly. He was excited about learning and was fascinated by the globe and talking about different countries. Kingston would have graduated from kindergarten on May 18 with the “Most Improved Student Award” and was excited about summer and becoming a “grader” next year.
More than anything, Kingston loved his mother. He lit up when he talked about her. He couldn’t walk past her without reaching up to give her a kiss. He never saw anything with a butterfly on it that he didn’t want for her, and he never passed a flower he didn’t want to pick for her. She called him Sunny, but she was his sun.
Kingston was preceded in death by his devoted father, LaCharles McWilliams. He is lovingly remembered by his mother Ashley Hickman (Chase Cleggett), brother LaCharles Buckley, devoted grandparents, Jennifer Staggs and Jason Hickman (Jenny), and Sarah McWilliams, great-grandmother Sharon Simmons, aunts Sydney Newsome and Charlesheika, Charlekeytha, and LaShara McWilliams, uncles Jaden and Brady Hickman and Gabriel Cook, LaCharledreck and LaCharlericus McWilliams, and many cousins. The Cleggett family (G-Mama, Chyne, Cairan, and Cam-ron), his Inglewood Elementary family, and so many more family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to St. Luke’s Community House where Kingston was so loved during his pre-school years, or to Inglewood Elementary School where he was just beginning to blossom.
