Lauren “Kay” Bennett Byrd, Age 80, of Nashville, TN, passed away on July 11, 2026.
Preceded in death by her mother, Martha Bennett; father, John Bennett; grandson, Jonathan “Jonny ” Byrd; and boyfriend, William “Bill” Lewis.
She is survived by her children, John “Cliff” (Sherry), Edward Byrd, Laura Wallace, Sally (Marc) Rudzenski, and Cindy Furkins; grandchildren, Ricky (Ashley) Byrd, Cassie (Lee) Stewart, JJ Byrd, Emily (Trevor) Wallace, Sean (Reagan) Boston, Jared Boston, Max Schrieber, Michelle and Julie Furkins; great grandchildren, Amilie Byrd, Aiden Byrd, Jacob Byrd, Jacey Stewart, Carter Stewart, Logan Perry, DeKari Furkins, DeOnie Osborne, and Bentley Osborne; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Ellie Smoak and Anya and Tay Furkins.
Kay worked at (Baptist) Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital for 36 dedicated years as the office manager in cardiovascular lab and considered her coworkers as her family. She was just as dedicated to her family and loved them fiercely. She told me (Laura) that she wasn’t ready to go and she fought bravely to stay with us all.
She will be deeply missed by all.
