Katie Sue Rowland Coomer departed this life on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Born December 7, 1936 in Camden, Tennessee to Fred and Ione Rowland, Sue moved to Nashville in 1956 following graduation from Camden Central High School.

She began a career as a secretary but after a few years elected to be a stay-at-home Mom and care for her growing family.

As the children matured, she later pursued a degree in art from Watkins Institute where she also taught children’s art for several years. A gifted artist, Sue won awards for her art and designed her family’s Christmas cards for over 40 years. She was honored by many friends that collected every card.

In 2011, one of her paintings of Nashville was selected by the Second Harvest Food Bank for its annual Christmas Card.

Sue and her family were charter members of Christ Lutheran Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for decades. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother-to-be.

She was predeceased by her parents and a son, Dr. Timothy Coomer.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald R. Coomer and three children: Katrina, Kenneth (Sarah) and Maxwell (Meredith); daughter-in-law, Sandra Coomer; and seven grandchildren: Shawn Coomer (Matt Blagg), Ryan Coomer (Jessica), Seth Coomer, Nicholas Coomer, Benjamin Coomer, Sky Coomer, Shane Ohlenbusch and precious friend and caregiver, Rhonda Norris.
