Kathryn Middlebrooks Hipps
March 4, 1929 – April 14, 2025

Affectionately known as “Kitten,” daughter of Acton Elijah Middlebrooks and Vera Mae Baldwin. Graduating from the University of Alabama, she taught reading to elementary students in Birmingham, Alabama. She married R Harold Hipps in 1956 and lived in Greensboro, NC where they had two children, Jeffrey Gordon and Daniel Baldwin.

After moving to Nashville, TN in 1963, Kitten kept the home stable while R performed his duties for the United Methodist Board. Kitten enjoyed cooking, traveling with her family, sister and friends, spending time at the beach and always having a few books nearby for quiet entertainment. She was a true southern lady, charming and graceful through the end.

Kitten is preceded in death by her parents, sister Christine Fulton (Duncan), husband R Harold Hipps, sister-in-law Ruth Houser (Wayne) and son Jeff Hipps. She is survived by her son Dan Hipps (Kim), grandson Evan Baldwin Hipps and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Blakeford, at Home and Cloverland Park Memory Care for the excellent work in caring for Kitten. We also would like to thank the staff at Adoration Hospice, especially Vee, who helped our family through the final months.

A celebration of life will be held at Scales Chapel at West End United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10th at 2:00 PM with visitation at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Adoration Hospice. Funeral arrangements are at Ellis Funeral Home, 2627 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37211 (615) 255-5412.
