Julia Eastman-Graves, born Julia Helen Eastman in Montgomery, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1947 has passed away on April 12 in Nashville, Tennessee.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Jerry Donald Graves, and her three children and five grandchildren: Julia Graves Shults (Taylor, Vivian and Luke), Kate Graves-Aubailly (Mathieu, Xavier) and Jerry Donald Graves Junior (Susan, Wylie and Hyla). She is also survived by her six siblings; Don Eastman III (Chris), Nona Eastman, Gerry Eastman (Kay), Chuck Eastman (Judy), Lucy Eastman, and Frank Eastman (Betsy) and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Julia was a loving mother and devoted wife. She dedicated her life to her family and her civic pursuits, starting in the ‘70’s with journalism and her own independent newspaper in Atlanta, public affairs and government relations in the ‘80s, and a decade long fight to fend off a landfill in Bell‘s Bend, Tennessee. She loved living on the Graves’ farm, in the log cabin her husband and friends built by hand surrounded by sheep, cattle and chickens. She enjoyed sharing brown eggs around the community. In her 60’s, she founded and was president of Friends of Bell’s Bend Park. She will be greatly missed and remembered.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, Tennessee on Tuesday, April 15 from 5 – 8 PM. The funeral will be held at 11 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Joelton, TN on Wednesday, April 16th. https://www.andersonandgarrett.com
