Juanita Marie Mitchell Jr, age 54, passed away on May 29, 2026 in Nashville, TN. Born on April 9, 1972 in Lansing, MI, she was the oldest child of Jerry Mitchell Sr and Juanita Mitchell-Chapman. Although Juanita was the oldest child, she always joked that she was an only child; she just had a brother.
Juanita got her first job at 14, and never stopped working. After graduating from Sexton High School, Juanita continued her education at Michigan State University. She had many hobbies throughout life, but journaling and social media were her all-time favorites. Juanita was an avid writer, though she rarely shared with others. She often had no less than ten journals at a time. Juanita spent her life in search of happiness and love, and was always certain it would find her. Throughout everything, Juanita enjoyed life.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Jerry Mitchell Sr and Juanita Mitchell-Chapman. She leaves behind her brother, Jerry Mitchell Jr, special friend Hugh VanArsdale, and a loving network of friends. Although Juanita gave birth to one child, she accumulated many children throughout her life. Juanita leaves behind a legacy of friendship, laughter, and zest for life. Her presence will be missed by those in her life.
