Joe Elvis Whitfield, a native of West Nashville, entered into rest on April 7, 2026. He was born in Nashville on November 5, 1937, to the late Elvis Whitfield and Grace Pelham.
Joe attended Cohn High School and served his country in the Army Reserves. A tenderhearted and dedicated father, he was known for his wit, his love of animals, and his passion for music, often spending time singing and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed classic cars, NASCAR, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Whitfield, his parents, and his sister, Christine Dorris.
Joe is survived by his wife, Viola Whitfield, his daughters, Terri Whitney and Lisa Neely (John), and his grandchildren, Olivia Whitney, Beth Whitney, John Neely, and Whitney Neely. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
