Jerry Peek 83 passed away Nov. 4, 2025 peacefully at his home in Donelson, TN with his partner of nearly 54 years by his side. He was born in 1942.
He leaves behind his partner Joe Heatherly, son Eric Peek, granddaughter Katie Peek and sister Fay Burke.
He was an early pioneer in the gay community. He opened the first gay Dance Show bar, “the Watch your Hat and Coat Saloon” on 2nd Ave. as well as “the Cabaret” and others.
He was founder of the Miss Gay America Pageant which is still going today. He leaves a legacy that will live on.
He will be missed by so many in that community and his family and many friends. He was loved.
