Mrs. Jan Snyder of the Monoville Community quietly and peacefully entered into eternal rest at the age 84, two days before her 85th birthday, at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday morning June 24, 2026.
Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home will be conducted on Sunday afternoon June 28th at 3 p.m. Mrs. Snyder’s son, David Keeny and son-in-law, Keith Emrich will deliver the eulogies. Graveside services and interment will be Monday afternoon June 29th at 1 p.m. in section six at the Ridgewood Cemetery.
The Snyder family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage only on Sunday June 28th from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral services.
Born Janet Jo Snyder in La Junta in Otero County, Colorado on June 26, 1941, she was the third child born and only daughter of the late Christian Robert Snyder who died December 23, 1959 at the age of 57 and Neva Elizabeth Snyder who died in 1978 at the age of 71.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Charles Snyder, a Korean War veteran with the United States Navy who died at the age of 55 on August 14, 1982.
She graduated high school in 1959 in Hesston Kansas and attended college at the Otero Community College in La Junta, Colorado.
Mrs. Snyder was a former Certified Nursing Assistant at Cumberland County Medical Center in Crossville.
She was a member of the Family Worship Center with Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
Surviving is her daughter and primary caregiver, Debbie Bernal and husband Jaime of the Monoville Community, son, David Keeny and wife Reta of Shreveport, Louisiana, another daughter, Kim Emrich and husband Keith of Livingston; the father of her children, Donald Keeny of Chucky, Tennessee; brother, Phillip Snyder of Cheraw, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Joseph Rector of Carthage, Joshua Keeny and wife Brittany of Union, Kentucky, Chris Keeny and wife Vallie, Amber Moulton and husband Wyatt all of Shreveport, Louisiana, Johnathan Emrich of Brentwood, Rebecca DePolitte and husband Ben, Victoria Emrich all of Lebanon; sixteen great-grandchildren.
