James Scott Alden, 76, passed away December 16, 2025, in Nashville, TN.
Scott was born on May 21, 1949, in Dallas, TX. He was a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Scott Alden, mother, Katharine Cartwright Taylor Alden, and nephew Christopher Cartwright Haun.
Scott is survived by his wife, Lisa Chapman Alden; son, Scott Clinton Alden; daughter, Katharine Mosher (Bryan); son, Charles Robert McNiel (Niel) Alden (Libba); daughter, Laura Sullivan (Nick); and their mother Diana Thompson; stepdaughter, Andrea Tetreault Egbert (Justin); sister, Katharine Alden Haun and her husband Dr. Louis Haun Jr of Knoxville, TN; granddaughters Hannah, Lillian, and Lucille Mosher; and Juliette, Carter, and Alice Alden; nephews Louis Eugene Haun IV (Deven) and Dr. Alden Kirkpatrick Haun (Ashley) of Knoxville, TN; and several longtime friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
