James “Larry” Rains, Jr., CPD, age 68, passed away on September 20, 2021.
Born January 26, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the eldest son of James L. Rains, Sr., and Phyllis B. Rains.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack Rains, and his sister, Rebecca “JoJo” Garner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra B. Rains; his daughters, Amy Rains Dillon and Lacey Andrews (Mike); and his grandsons, Evan Dillon and Charlie and Milo Andrews. He also leaves behind numerous loving family members and friends.
Larry devoted 42 years to Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. as a certified technical principal and senior medical gas specialist where he developed many life-long friendships. He took great pride in his medical gas work, instructing others in the medical gas field.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found playing in the forest. He loved his family first and foremost. He truly was a gentle giant. Larry will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, 615-331-1952.
