James “Jim” Hill Waller passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 14, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Carter Waller and Frances Mitchiner Waller, children James Steven Waller and Kimberley Waller Foster, and sister Connie Waller White.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Hoover Waller, children David Mitchiner Waller and Jennifer Hill Pettus (Bryan), beloved grandsons James Howard Pettus and Cooper Bryan Pettus, and sister Lenoir “Nonie” Waller Hale.

Jim retired from IBM after 38 years where he received numerous awards and recognitions, including District Rookie of the Year, many 100% Clubs, and two Golden Circle awards.

Jim was an exceptionally talented woodworker and avid golfer, but his true passion was sailing and sailboat racing. He was a previous two-time Commodore and member of Percy Priest Yacht Club and a current member of Harbor Island Yacht Club. He also was a former President and member of City Sales Club.

Jim was loved and respected by many for his caring heart, infectious smile, dry sense of humor, and generous spirit, as shown by his willingness to help anyone who could benefit from his expertise. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Alive Hospice, or a charity of your choice.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Woodlawn-Roesch-PattonFH.com for the Waller family.
