James Carl Johnson, Jr.
Heaven just got a lot more rowdy, and a little more feisty.
Jim’s life was full of joy and laughter with family, friends, and the love of his life and wife of over 30 years, Tracey.
James Carl Johnson, Jr. – our Jim – passed away peacefully in Nashville on April 8, 2026 at the age of 57.
His devotion to his wife and their lives on their small family farm in Westmoreland never wavered, even during his 17 year battle with kidney disease. He taught his son to change his own oil, keep his word, and always stop to help someone on the side of the road. His granddaughters became the twinkle in his blue eyes and the light of his life.
His team at J.M. Smucker Co., Scottsville, Kentucky weren’t just part of his work life, but became lifelong friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Tracey Johnson, son Devin Branham, granddaughters Kinley and Josie and their mother Lilly Branham, sisters Patricia Smith and Brenda Pinter and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, inlaws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James Carl Johnson and Nadine Reavis Johnson, sister Donna Hutchinson, and his father and mother in law Jim and Judy Renfro.
A celebration of life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation in his name.
