“I’m a heart transplant survivor.”
Our beloved Marina, born on March 29th, 1994, in Austelle, GA, left us on January 30th, 2025, in Nashville, TN. She was an amazing sister, daughter, and granddaughter whose smile was infectious, and laughter was contagious.
Marina was the cherished daughter of Stephanie Hyde and Charles Burton III, and the loving stepdaughter of David Hyde and Wanda Burton. She was the adored sister to Gabby, Neviah, Isa, Abi, Anabel, Christian, Brenden, Yuan, and DJ, and a beloved granddaughter to Donna Walden, Debbie Burton, and Bruce Walden, beloved niece to Shane Walden, Billy Edwards, Danny Powell, Candace Fakes and Tyna Hefner, and beloved cousins, Cayla Walden, Cierra Walden, Chloe Toth, and Haleigh Agustin. She was preceded in passing by her grandfather Charles Burton Jr.
Marina loved spending the holidays with her family, helping in the kitchen cooking alongside her mother and grandmothers. One of her favorite dishes was the Thanksgiving and Christmas ham. She cherished those moments, filling the house with the warmth of her laughter and the aroma of her home-cooked favorites.
She was passionate about music, a huge Taylor Swift fan but enjoyed all kinds. Marina loved watching football and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. Cooking was a joy for her, especially when sharing her culinary creations with loved ones. She adored seafood and enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurants like Red Lobster and Mexican cuisine.
With a playful spirit, Marina spent time on her Switch console but also enjoyed family game nights with Trouble, Monopoly, and Uno. She was a fan of the Star Wars and Harry Potter series, often sharing her enthusiasm with everyone around her. She loved animals deeply, especially her dog, Kira, who was her faithful companion.
Kind, generous, resilient, loyal, and always optimistic, Marina’s presence lit up every room she entered. As a heart transplant survivor, she embodied strength and resilience throughout her life.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the joy and love Marina brought into our lives. Her legacy of kindness and optimism will continue to inspire us every day.
Marina, we love you, and we will carry your spirit with us always.
