OBITUARY: Horace Dennis Nichols

Horace “Pete” Dennis Nichols, age 88, of Nashville, TN, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He was born in Waverly, TN on December 11, 1937, to the late Othelia Miller Nichols and Reuben Buck Nichols. Pete enjoyed spending time with his friends over breakfast. He was a devoted father to his children and his family. Horace never met a stranger. He never forgot the ladies’ names because they were all named “Hey Baby”!

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Dennis Nichols (Betty) of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Partridge (Keith), Amy Nichols, and Cole Nichols; great grandchildren, Hayden Hull, Channing Nichols-Moffitt, Emily Partridge, and Ellie Partridge; special niece, Janice Cecil; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Along with his parents, Pete is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rosie Nichols; son, Carl Nichols; and siblings, Inease Jones, Leo Nichols, Donelly Nichols, Billy Nichols, Odell Nichols, and Ralph Nichols.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Luff- Bowen in Waverly, beginning at 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Waverly at 12:30 P.M with his great nephew, Brandon Cecil officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, your local humane society or any charity of your choice in honor of Pete’s memory.
