Harrison Wallace Edwards Jr. who was a resident of Nashville, TN and Naples, FL passed away on September 22, 2024.
Born in Washington, D.C. on March 8, 1934 was the son of Harrison Wallace Edwards, Sr. and Thelma Johnson Edwards both of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Edwards grew up in Nashville where he attended Palmer Elementary School and Hillsboro High School class of 1952. While there he played in the band, sang in the chorus in musical productions and was president of the music club. He was also a member of Kappa Phi fraternity.
Mr Edwards attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee from which he earned degrees in History and American civilization. He also played in the Pride of the Southland Marching Band and sang with the University singers and was awarded membership in the Kappa Kappa Psi honorary music fraternity. He especially loved his membership in the Sigma Chi fraternity and soon after graduation became a Life Long Sig. Upon his graduation from college Mr. Edwards joined his father as an associate representative of Rust-Oleum Corporation with the responsibility of promoting Rust-Oleum products in the South Central States as well as the Central American Republics.
He left Rust-Oleum after 20 years service and founded a manufactures representative company that catered to the ecclesiastical market. Many beautiful church interiors in Nashville, as well as the South Central area were created all or in part by his company.
In terms of civic and charitable interest, Mr. Edwards was a life member of Cheekwood, a past board member of the English Speaking Union, delivered meals on wheels for St. Lukes community center and supported Blair School of Music. He also was a supporter of Hope House.
In Naples, he was active in the Classic Chamber Music Society, the Baker Museum, the Botanical Gardens of Naples and the Naples Philharmonic. First Presbyterian Church of Nashville was his church home for over 50 years. He served as a deacon and was a long standing member of the choir.
Mr.Edwards held social memberships in Hillwood Country Club, the University Club of Nashville, the Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club of Naples and his favorite was The Spoonbill Club of, Apalachicola, Florida.
Music was Mr. Edwards’s great love, especially choral, and in addition to performing choral works he loved travel, especially hiking trips and attending concerts here and abroad. Mr Edwards loved the fellowship of good friends, wintering in Florida and many hours at his mountain home in Monteagle surrounded by good books, visits to the Monteagle Sunday School assembly. Не so enjoyed presentations at the University of the South in Swanee. He also loved polishing his assortment of automobiles on a beautiful day.
Above all he loved the Lord and rejoiced in the love and fellowship that lies ahead.
