Harlis Lyonl Johnson went to be with the LORD on Friday, October 20, 2023.
He was the son of Elmer & Bula Johnson and he leaves behind his wife, Phyllis Jo Johnson, two sons, Ronald Harlis Johnson and Larry Wayne Johnson, his daughters-in-law, Patty Johnson and Laura Jacobs, four grandchildren: Matthew Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Noah Jacobs and Bray Jacobs, one stepson, Rob Dalton & wife, Kathy, and granddaughter, Madison Marangoni & husband Gabriele and great-grandson, Matteo Marangoni, and one surviving sister, Nancy Street.
Harlis grew up in Old Hickory, TN, graduated from DuPont High School in 1951 and from Tennessee Tech in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56. He was active in the Dupont High Alumni Assn., and the Old Hickory Bunch. He was a member of the Brentwood United Methodist Church. He was very active in his church activities and was involved in 14 overseas missions, mostly building churches.
He answered the UMC prayer line for over 13 years and was a Stevens Minister, former choir member, and served on 4 different church boards. Harlis retired from Avco after 25 years in various management positions, and later retired from the State of TN as the manager of Telecommunications Department.
