George Milton “Mitch” Alley, age 83, of Goodlettsville, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at NHC Springfield.

Mr. Alley was born November 28, 1940, in Old Hickory, TN, to the late George Farris Alley and the late Mary Ella Murphy Alley.

He worked for Dupont at the DMT plant for 35 years. After retiring he ran the restaurant at Oak Hills Country Club for several years. He then decided to open his own restaurant, Highway 41 Café in Greenbrier until he finally retired for good in 2014. He was always a hunter, especially deer. An avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his fellow golfers.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Alley was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Alley; and a sister, Wanda Gunn.

He is survived by his daughters, Gina (Purnell) Horton, Shelley (Bryan) Jones, and Cheryl (Johnny) Pentecost; 8 grandchildren, Allison (Dalton) Graham, Paige (Jarrett) Pentecost, Zac (Nicole) Alley, Cheyenne (Nathan) Jett, Taylor (Ryan) Yates, Nicole Horton (Cade), Patrick Jones (Kaitlyn), and Jacob Pentecost (Summer); and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, November 19th in the Austin & Bell Funeral Home chapel in Greenbrier with Minister Jean Kimbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Zac Alley, Patrick Jones, Jacob Pentecost, Dalton Graham, Jarrett Pentecost, Nathan Jett, Ryan Yates, and Cade McLean serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Monday, and again from 10-11 am Tuesday, at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Neal Hancock. We are so thankful for a renewed friendship during a time we needed it most. Also, thank you to all the wonderful staff at NHC Springfield. You all took such wonderful care of our daddy.
