He earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1968. He was president and owner of Southland Electrical Supply Company in Louisville, KY, which he ran from 1967 to 1992. He had a sharp wit, and a deep appreciation for knowledge and education, so it was a natural step for him to become a professor in the College of Engineering at Lipscomb University from 1993 to 2006.

George was devoted to his family, and he was a man of faith who truly loved the Lord. He loved promoting Christianity both directly, with his intellectual, speaking and writing abilities; and indirectly, with the example that he set by the way that he lived his life.

He was a current member and former elder of the Church of Christ in Green Hills. One of his greatest joys was the children of the church and its Youth program (Pike Kids).

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to the Church of Christ in Green Hills, 3805 Granny White Pike, Nashville, TN 37204.

Services will be conducted by Andy Bedingfield on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Green Hills, 3805 Granny White Pike, Nashville, TN 37204.
