Freeda Nell Stephens, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on August 10, 1943, in Sparta, Tennessee, Freeda was the daughter of William Jewel Stephens and Ruby Stephens. She spent her childhood in Sparta, Tennessee where she built many cherished memories and lifelong connections. Throughout her life she carried with her the values of hard work, creativity, and love for family and home.
Freeda worked for Southern Bell and later owned her own Home Interiors business, where she enjoyed connecting with others and sharing her eye for beauty and design. She was talented with her hands and found joy in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She especially loved animals and had a special fondness for kittens.
She will be remembered for her caring heart, independent spirit, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her family and friends will cherish the many memories they shared with her through the years.
Freeda was preceded in death by her parents, William Jewel Stephens and Ruby Stephens; her brother, James Stephens; her nephew, Greg Stephens and her cousin, Carol Baker.
She is survived by her niece, Marsha Darvin; cousins, Barry Baker, and Steve Baker; along with extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A service to celebrate Freeda’s life will be held at Woodbine Funeral Home, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville, TN on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization or charity of your choice in her memory.
