Emogene Gale Vanatta, 80, of Abilene, TX, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville, TN 37204.
Emogene was born on August 8, 1945, in Nashville, TN, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and music. Emogene loved singing in the church choir and found great joy in music. She worked as a preschool teacher for many years and enjoyed every second dedicating her life to shaping young minds and instilling a lifelong love of learning. Emogene’s greatest joy was being surrounded by the ones she cherished most. Her family was her passion, but it was her role as a grandmother that she considered her greatest life’s work. Emogene had an amazing gift of always making everyone around her feel deeply loved, seen and appreciated. Her warm spirit, caring heart, and love for bringing people together will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
