Elizabeth-Sue-Alban

Elizabeth Sue Alban, born on November 7, 1943, in Boonshill, Tennessee, to Earl and Betty Chapman, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024.

Raised in Fayetteville, Tennessee, Sue discovered her passion for education early in life. She pursued a degree in Home Economics from Middle Tennessee State College (MTSC) and began her teaching career in Maryland, where she inspired many young minds. She later returned to Nashville, Tennessee, continuing her work as a dedicated educator. Ever committed to learning, Sue earned a master’s degree and became certified to teach the visually impaired, leading her to the Tennessee School for the Blind, where she made a profound impact on the lives of her students and colleagues.

After retiring from full-time teaching, Sue continued to serve her community with kindness and generosity. She filled in as the secretary at Antioch Church of Christ, where she was a beloved member. Known for her delicious homemade cakes, she found joy in baking for friends and family. Sue was also deeply involved in the church’s inner-city ministry, offering her time, compassion, and love to those in need.

Sue’s greatest accomplishment and pride in life were her two sons, whom she loved dearly and cherished more than anything. She devoted herself to her family, nurturing and supporting them with unwavering love.

Sue is survived by her sons, George Herbert Alban of Carthage, Tennessee, and Timothy Wilson Alban of Nashville, Tennessee; her sisters, Judith Ann Widick and Patricia Jean Chance (married to Mike Chance); her stepsiblings, Elaine McBride and Dwight Wilson; six great-nieces and nephews; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Betty Chapman, and her brother-in-law, Bill Widick.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to every friend who has been there for them during this time, offering support, love, and kindness. Your presence and prayers have been a great comfort.
