In Loving Memory of Drexel Ann Martin
Drexel Ann Martin was born on February 10, 1956, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Annie Ruth Martin and Willie Ike Martin. She peacefully entered into rest on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Drexel was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and a faithful member of the Fisk Park Congregation. Her love for Jehovah and her unwavering faith remained strong throughout her life, sustaining her even in her final days.
She was a graduate of Hume-Fogg High School in Nashville, Class of 1974. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, Drexel furthered her education in Westbury, New York, where she earned her degree in phlebotomy. She later dedicated many years of service to Vanderbilt Medical Center, from which she retired.
Drexel found great joy in cooking and took pride in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, and togetherness, where many cherished memories were made.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Ike Martin; her brother, Larry Lauderdale; and her sister, Valerie Martin.
Drexel leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving daughter, Chaka (DaJuan) Washington; her beloved grandchildren, Ernest “EJ” Hayes Jr. and Sa’Nia Washington; her mother, Annie Ruth Martin; her siblings, Willie C. Robinson, Charles Lauderdale, and Willie Ike Martin Jr.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Drexel Ann Martin will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial service.
