Dr. Haroldine Glee (Clark) Miller, affectionately known as Deanie, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Deanie was born on November 17, 1934, in Benedict, MN, to Harold and Annie (Pederson) Clark.

She married the love of her life, Dr. Jack W. Miller, and together they created a lifetime of cherished memories during their remarkable 66-year marriage. They worked as a team to raise four children, supported each other’s educational and professional endeavors, and were a part of the historic Whitland area neighborhood.

In 1952, Deanie graduated from LaPorte High School in MN and earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Deanie retired as Director of Middle Schools in the Metro Nashville Public School system. During her career, she was the Principal of Walter Stokes Middle School and taught in several Metro schools. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom including advanced educator training and co-teaching graduate coursework with Jack in countries that included Greece and Japan.

Deanie was actively involved and supported a variety of organizations. She served as Treasurer for the Fort Nashborough Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a long-term member of Delta Kappa Gamma. In her leisure time, Deanie enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bridge, singing, playing the organ, baking award-winning bread, and walking the neighborhood.

Deanie is survived by her brother Al (Shalyn) Clark, her children Steven (Cherie) Miller, Curtis (Donna) Miller, Sandra Miller-Davis, and Christine Miller. She is remembered by her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Deanie was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack Miller, her sisters Maxine (Thomas) Leyendecker and Dorothy (Robert) Miller, and her brother Lyle Clark.

A celebration of Deanie’s life will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 with viewing 1-3 PM CST and memorial to follow at West Harpeth Funeral Home 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209. Inurnment will be held later at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery. https://www.westharpethfh.com
