Doris Ann Strickland Pyles, 88, passed away on October 2, 2024.

She was the wife of Clarence “Ed” Pyles, who preceded her in death, on December 30, 2023.

Born in Old Hickory, Tennessee, she grew up in Linden, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Earl Monroe and Opal Willean Strickland.

She graduated from Draughn’s Business College in 1953. She was a consummate wife and mother until she returned to work in the mid 1980’s. She worked her way up from a “Kelly Girl” to Secretary of the President of Nortel Networks.

She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a member of the United Methodist Women. She was focused on the life of her family and ran the house with grace and precision! She was devoted to her family and always ensured everyone was where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be there – and they were well groomed and fed when they got there.

As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved her grandsons and got to spend lots of time with them as they grew up. She enjoyed seeing her great-grandkids whenever they came but was never able to fully understand who they were. Still, they were kids, so she loved them.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim Joyce and Terri Breece (Doug); grandchildren, Clay Breece and Andrew Joyce (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Allie Ray and Beau Christopher Joyce.

The graveside service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thompson Lane in Nashville, TN. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Tennessee.
