Donald Keith Patterson, 60, of Goodlettsville, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 after a long illness.

Don was a loving, helpful man who was always ready and willing to help his friends and family in any situation. He had a deep connection to nature, leading him to his calling as an arborist. If he saw a tree down in the neighborhood, he would be the first person to get out and start to take care of the removal. He also loved fishing, sometimes driving through Nashville traffic just to get a couple of hours of fishing in after work. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Charles Patterson.

Don is survived by his wife, Shannon Patterson; Children, Josh Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Kristin Hawkins, Kristen Hargis, and Rachel Taylor; Siblings, Julie Patterson, Judy Patterson, Jennifer Meador, Jan Parnell, and Doug Patterson; And many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 1 pm until his celebration of life at 2pm at Luna Lane Church of Christ, 177 Luna Lane, Hendersonville, TN 37075. His cremated remains will be placed at Larkspur Conservation at Taylor Hollow, 155 Bear Carr Road, Westmoreland, TN 37186 on Friday, October 4, 2024. at 1 pm. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com

In lieu of potted flowers, please bring cut flowers to Larkspur to be placed on Don’s grave.

What to expect at a natural burial:
Dress for an outdoor hike and wear appropriate shoes.
Use the restroom before you arrive, there is no public toilet or running water.
Carpool to Larkspur – parking is limited.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of time.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the trailhead by Larkspur staff and volunteers.
The casket or body will be in place at the graveside prior to the arrival of family and friends.
Family and friends will hike up the hill into the nature preserve for the burial ceremony.
Words are shared and the casket or body is lowered into the grave by family and friends.
With guidance the family and friends shovel soil into the grave until it is closed.
Hike away from the graveside and return to your vehicle or explore the preserve.
Leave no trash behind.
Cut flowers are welcome.
