David McGriff, age 86 of Nashville, TN, passed in his sleep peacefully on October 8, 2021 with family by his side and met his Heavenly Father.
He was a very sweet, kind, and loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, and friend. He was always joking around, could put a smile on anyone’s face, and never met a stranger. He loved writing poems for his family, telling them how special they were. David loved singing and making up songs, making everyone laugh. When telemarketers called, he always had a story for them. We always got a laugh when he named their cats or all the stray cats from the neighborhood that came to eat. He took great pride in decorating for Christmas and his train set- making everything look just perfect. He loved to eat, especially sweets, ice cream, and honey buns. David absolutely loved spending time with family and working out in the yard. He will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Bessie McGriff; siblings, James McGriff, Jr., Donald McGriff, Frank McGriff, Doris Bass, Robert McGriff, and Anne Coulter. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Priscilla McGriff; daughter, Gwen (Jeff) Turner; grandchildren, Kelsey (Tyler) Burke, Taylor Turner, and Bailee Turner; twin sister, Betty Patterson, and sister, Carol Anglea.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 615-331-1952.
