David James Thornton, left this earth at the age of 42 on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Originally born in Pine Bluff, AR on October 20, 1980, David was a cherished figure in his community, a loving father, a dedicated son, a beloved brother, and an invaluable friend to all those fortunate to have known him.

His surviving family members include his aunt, Mozelle Duckworth, his father, Robert Young Jr., and his siblings, Charlisa Thornton, Ashley Bryant (BJ), Mark Cox, Timothy Thornton (Kiwi), and Krystn Young. His alma mater, Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, TX, was a backdrop for his choral journey, and it is there that he formed many enduring friendships, including a lifelong bond with his best friend Darwin Mason Jr. David was also a member of the esteemed Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
David lived a life of triumph and was a testament to the power of faith. His desire to share God’s message and his positivity made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
