Daniel Sheerin Bray passed away peacefully at home, looking handsome as ever and surrounded by family, on October 31, 2022.
Dan was born to Mary J. (Habermann) and David P. Bray on April 29, 1970 in the Bronx, NY. As the third of five children, he learned early on how to make people laugh, and his hilarious sense of humor was legendary.
Dan grew up in upstate New York and Maryland and received his degree in international studies from American University in Washington, DC. While at American he studied abroad for a full year in Vienna and Brussels, where he discovered a love of travel and met lifelong friends. After a stint as an international policy strategist in DC, Dan moved to California where he worked in digital marketing. It was during this time that he met his future husband, Greg; they married on Venice Beach, wearing leis, on August 31, 2013.
They eventually made their home in Nashville, Tennessee where Dan became involved in several causes deeply important to him: the Nashville Food Project, Second Harvest Food Bank, Safe Haven Family Shelter, and Moms Demand Action.
As one of his friends put it, “I think Dan belongs to me” – it’s safe to say that everyone he knew and loved felt the same way. Dan especially worked overtime to be the favorite uncle of his nieces and nephews, flying across the country to visit them regularly and creating unforgettable experiences for them right to the end.
Dan will be profoundly missed by his beloved husband, Greg Pohl; his parents, David and Mary Bray of White Plains, NY; his siblings Donna Bray of Brooklyn, NY, David Bray of San Francisco, CA, Matthew Bray of Brooklyn, NY, and Christopher Bray of Long Beach, CA; his in-laws Kevin McAllister, Monica (Frisoli) Bray, Franco Pedicini, and Gabriela (Simeonova) Bray; his nieces and nephews, Grace and Liam McAllister, Derek Bray, Aaron, Abigail, and Aileen Bray, Nate and Avery Pohl, and Eric and Fletcher Pohl; as well as his aunts and uncles, many cousins, and countless friends.
