Charlotte May Hampton, age 88, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Charlotte was born in New Albany, Indiana on August 16, 1934, to parents, Harry and Martha (Turbeville) Miner.
She attended Litton High School, where in 1951, she sang with a girl’s group called the Harmonettes. She was also outgoing in several clubs such as: Social Psychology, D.E., and Southern Belles. Charlotte married Martin Ewing Hampton on June 2, 1952, at Inglewood Baptist Church. She joined Ewing immediately in Panama City, Florida where he served at Tyndall Air Force Base. The couple then moved back to Nashville and spent over 66 years together in the Inglewood and Madison areas.
Charlotte loved music! She sang and played acoustic guitar/piano at gatherings for friends and family. Charlotte was a homemaker and an immaculate housekeeper. She was a devoted wife and an extra special mother! After Charlotte raised her children, she worked for H & R Block and became the office manager for Executive Tax Service, a division of H & R Block.
Charlotte and Ewing were longtime members of Dalewood Methodist Church in Inglewood where she taught Sunday School and sang with the choir.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Miner, Jr., Martha Miner, her brother, Harry Miner, III and her husband, Ewing Hampton, on February 9, 2019.
She is survived by her son, Steve Hampton (Gabriela) of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Denise Hart (Neal) of Joelton, Tennessee; and her son, Adam Hampton (Rhonda) of Joelton. Charlotte has seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She has been surrounded by incredible neighbors who have helped out in so many ways and a constant companion, Poppy, her beloved dog!
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 am to service time at 12:00pm at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com
