Charles Robert “Bob” Geldreich, 76, of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025.
He was born on November 6, 1948, in Nashville, to Ruth Peery Geldreich and Charles Russell Geldreich.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who made an indelible impact on the lives of all who knew him. He married the love of his life, Beverly, on June 17, 1972, and together they shared more than five decades of love and partnership.
Bob graduated from Overton High School in 1969, and his professional career spanned over three decades with the United Methodist Publishing House, where he worked from 1970 to 2005. After retiring, Bob found new purpose and fulfillment in working with Bios Corporation as an in-home and community assistant for individuals who were deaf and blind. In this role, Bob’s kind heart and commitment to service shone brightly as he helped these individuals navigate their world, communicate, and engage in meaningful activities. His work with the deaf and blind community brought him immense joy and allowed him to live out his passion for helping others.
Deaf since infancy, Bob embraced his identity with pride and became a strong advocate for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. He was an active mentor and friend, inspiring others with his resilience, compassion, and dedication. Bob’s unwavering commitment to others left a lasting legacy, one that touched the lives of countless people, especially those in the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Bob was a man of great character—a servant at heart, known for his warmth, generosity, and unflagging work ethic. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and valued, always bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandsons, Henry and Dean, and cherished his moments with friends. Whether playing cards, watching football, or traveling, Bob found joy in simple pleasures and the company of those he loved.
A devoted member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, Bob actively served in many ways, often as an usher, and throughout his life, he was involved in various church communities. His commitment extended to the Nashville Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America, where he dedicated many years to advocating for and supporting the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Gill Geldreich; son, Gill Geldreich (Glenn Swann); daughter, Ginger Geldreich Jones (Mark); grandsons, Henry and Dean Jones; sister; and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Charles Geldreich.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center or LexCare Foundation (formerly Songs for Sound), both of which supported causes close to Bob’s heart.
Bob’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for others will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with gratitude and fondness.
