Charles Richard Sims, age 83, of Nashville, Tennessee departed this life on Sunday, April 24, 2022, surrounded by those he loved.
Charles was born July 20, 1938 in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee to the late William Lawrence Sims and Florence Isabel Grant Sims.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Sims; six siblings.
Charles is survived by his children, Johnnie Starling of Nashville, Tennessee, Vicki Crook of Nashville, Tennessee and Lee Ann (Roger) Eaton of Nolensville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jacob Bretz of Nolensville, Tennessee, Samantha Starling of Memphis, Tennessee and Cody Starling of Gamali, Kentucky; sisters, Helen (AL) Kasthimer of Mowbray, Tennessee and Dorothy “Dottie” Vincent of Hixson, Tennessee; a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, with a major in History. He was a retired professor from Austin Peay State University. Charles enjoyed reading, coin collecting, cooking, and working in the yard.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Woodlawn’s Cross Mausoleum.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from eleven in the morning until one o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
