Charles “Charlie” E. Hood, 76, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in Nashville.
He was born on July 10, 1947, in Nashville.
Charlie served in the U.S. Navy, completing two tours in Vietnam. He was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service.
Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. He also had a deep passion for UT sports and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Verna Hood, and children: son, Charles “Randy” Hood (Mandy), daughters, Kelley Logan (Todd), and Ashley Gaza (Jason). Charlie (Papa) was a loving grandfather to Hailey and Brady Bass, Jacob and Claire Hood, and Jackson and Mattie Gaza. He also leaves behind stepsons, Kevin (Shallen) and Greg Chitwood, as well as his sisters, MaryEllen Whitus and Sherry Hartman. Charlie will be fondly remembered by his niece and nephew, Jeff Sidler and Tracey Key.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Clayborn and Phrona Hood, and his nephew, Wayne Sidler.
A visitation will be held on September 9, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Woodbine Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will follow at 2:00 PM, with burial immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
Charlie’s dedication to his country, his career, and his hobbies will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
