Carolyn Williams, a beacon of unwavering love and kindness, passed away on December 18, 2023, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1948, her family moved to Union City, Tennessee in 1950, where her father opened a large animal veterinary practice.

Carolyn’s life was one of passionate engagement and selfless love. She was the loving wife of John, and together they shared a bond that was evident to all who knew them. She was the heart and soul of her family, a role she embraced wholeheartedly as the devoted mom to her son Jay and daughter Abby.

Carolyn is preceded by her father, Dr. Alfred M. Creswell, and her mother, Jean Hanlin Creswell. She is the sister of Elna Jean Pollard of Hermitage, Tennessee and of Al Creswell and sister-in-law Michelle Creswell of Union City, Tennessee.

Carolyn’s educational journey led her to be valedictorian of her high school class at Union City High School in 1966 and valedictorian of her senior class at Lipscomb University in 1970. She went on to earn her master’s degree from Lipscomb in 1974in early childhood education. She worked for 30 years as a kindergarten teacher in Metro Nashville public schools. She poured herself into every class of children she taught, and she loved her students and colleagues dearly.

Her home was a haven for her cherished kitty cats, both those she kept as pets and the hundreds of cats that she saved through her 20 years of feline rescue work. All who knew her knew of her passion for cats!!! In addition, for 12 years, Carolyn worked as a volunteer at a local Alzheimer’s home where she conducted weekly programs for the residents.

The words that best describe Carolyn are loving, kind, and selfless. She approached life with a generosity of spirit that knew no bounds, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her capacity for love was as boundless as the sky, and her actions were a daily demonstration of this profound love for others. Carolyn’s radiant spirit, generous heart and warm smile left an indelible mark on the hearts of all those she encountered.

Carolyn’s legacy is one of boundless love, enduring kindness, and selfless dedication to her family, friends, and community. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her extraordinary life. Carolyn’s story is not one of an ending, but a lasting reminder of the beauty and strength of human spirit.
