Carol Mae Lugar Dyer

Carol Mae Lugar Dyer of Nashville, Tennessee, born on September 7, 1939 in Low Moor, Virginia, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 in Rockvale, Tennessee.

She was the daughter of the late Odell Wesley Lugar and Pauline Childs Lugar of Covington, Virginia.

Ms. Dyer was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Brenda Wiser; and her much-loved brother, Gary Lugar; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard Seay and Bill Peterson.

Her memory will be treasured by her sons, Tony Dyer (Jeanmarie) and Mike Dyer (Cyndie); grandchildren, Brittany Smartt, Brandon Dyer, April Inman (Nick), Corey Dyer, Lacy Buenrostro (Ruben), and Ashley Dyer; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Barbara Jean Seay, Charles Lugar (Brenda), Robert Lugar (Brenda), Barry Lugar (Sandra), Janet Peterson, and Linda Whitson; and brother-in-law, Gary Wiser; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; along with innumerable friends.

Carol made her home in Nashville in 1961 after attending Radford College in Virginia. She was a valued member of the Athens Paper Company family for over forty years until her retirement in 2016. She was a loyal Tennessee Titans fan and liked to travel. Momma Dyer will be especially remembered for her extraordinary capacity for love. She was gracious, generous, and so very thoughtful, always thinking of others and demonstrating the utmost devotion to her family and friends. She always had a smile and she could lighten the heaviest of hearts.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville, TN 37211. Carol will be laid to rest at Alleghany Memorial Park in Covington, Virginia.
