It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Ray Jones, who departed this life on June 14, 2026, at the age of 93.
Ray was born on February 4, 1933, in Smithville, TN, to the late William Carl and Clara Eugenia Jones. Throughout his life he was known for his quiet and loving nature.
He was a long time member of the Hilltown Emmanuel Church of Christ. He enjoyed being outside, local history, watching the birds, sitting beside his fish pond, and spending time in his cabin. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of almost 72 years, Inez Tywater Jones, children Regie (Anne) Jones, Steve (Lani) Jones, Sonny Jones, and foster son Eugene (Iris) Beal, 9 grandchildren along with their spouses and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Lampley and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted by Elder Ronnie Banks.
The family wishes to thank NHC at the Trace for their support and care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to NHC at the Trace in his memory.
Ray will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
