Billy Delone Gray passed away surrounded by family on June 18, 2024.

Born January 30, 1935, in Lawrence County, TN, he was the son of Vella Ruth and Bonnie Gray, both deceased.

Bill graduated from Strayer College of Accountancy and spent his early years with the FBI in Washington, DC, primarily in the field of data processing. He moved to Nashville, TN in 1959 to work in the computer industry for Avco Aerostructures, and later as owner of Accountants Computer Service and Data Processing Equipment Corporation. He continued to work in the computer industry until his retirement in 2000.

Bill married the love of his life, Jane Graham, in June 1982. They spent the early years of their marriage in Nashville, TN, and built a home on Center Hill Lake near Cookeville, TN where they moved in 2005. The memories created at “the Lake House” are too many to count. They returned to Nashville in February of this year.

Bill had many loves – his family, his church, tennis, golf, bluegrass music, gardening, and woodworking, always sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends and neighbors. He was generous to a fault with his time, talents, resources, endless patience, humility and kindness.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Deborah Gray of Huntsville, AL, Colleen Long of Cookeville, TN, Lisa Fitzgerald (Michael) of Tullahoma, TN, Suzanne Strothkamp (Wally Lo Faro) of St. Louis, MO, and Jenna Colt (Walt) of Nashville, TN; brother-and-sister-in-law, Waverly and Ann Graham of Alpharetta, GA; brother-in-law, Jerry Cooper of Lacey Springs, AL; sister-in-law, Pat Gray of Lawrenceburg, TN; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings and in-laws Betty and Ed Ingram, Bernice Cooper, Janice and Bill Jenkins, Charlie and Mary Ann (Susie) Gray; and daughter, Dawn Gray Gigante.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Belmont United Methodist Church, 2007 Acklen Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212 on Saturday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the church’s Community Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to God’s Grace Food Pantry at Cookeville United Methodist Church, 165 E. Broad St., Cookeville, TN 38501; or Belmont United Methodist Church, 2007 Acklen Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212.
