Beverly Jo Wright-cherished mother, grandmother, and sister-passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 8, 1940, to Frank L. Smith and Mary Faye (Simrell) Smith, Beverly was preceded in death by husband Ben Davidson, husband Ken Wibking, and her husband of 34 years, Sgt. Wilbur H. Wright, and grandson, Jesse Mason.
Beverly grew up a preachers’ child and was a member of Nashville’s Northside Church of Christ since 1985. She taught Bible school and Ladies classes, and spoke at Ladies retreats. Above all else, Beverly loved God, and could often be found on her couch with her well-worn Bible. She was a mighty prayer warrior. If you met her, you were prayed for.
Beverly enjoyed singing, playing piano, cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, camping, and meeting new people-never knowing a stranger. An avid reader and writer, Beverly penned beautiful poems, stories, and songs. She had a gift of song and making life beautiful. Her favorite word was “Joy” and that’s what she brought to so many people’s lives whether it was her endearing smile, infectious laugh, her kind words, her sharing the Scriptures, a healing touch, or her extraordinary gift of hospitality.
Beverly graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas and furthered her education through UK’s Open University while living in Northern Ireland from 1970-1976. She traveled extensively throughout Europe, teaching her children about history, art, and culture. In Tennessee, Beverly served as assistant to Governor Lamar Alexander, and later as a paralegal.
Beverly is survived by her children, Kara Jayne Kenyon (Tim), Kevin Bryant, Konni Jo Bryant Aust (David), Mark Wright (Lorie), the Ken Wibking children; her siblings, Maybeth Givens (Elden), Sandra Kendall-Ball (Paddy), LaGard Smith (Ruth), and Melita McCaskill (Keith); her grandchildren, Betsy Littrell (Austin), Sophie Mason, Emma Gregory, Zachary Tyler, Kara-Jayne Tyler, Tara Griffith (Chris), Teri Ann Hooper (Kevin), Will Wright (Ashley), Molly Wright, and Sam Wright. She was considered Nana to her great grandchildren and Aunt Bev to the many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
