Bettye was born on August 16, 1936, to Bob and Ethel Burton and was raised in Watertown TN. She retired from Metro Davidson County Schools where she served for 25 years.
The joys of her life were her late husband of 66 years, Roy Black (Granddaddy); her children, Mark (Sherri) Black and Jennifer (Clark) Rowland; her grandchildren, Alex (Sarah) Black, Andi (Jordan) Harris, Sam (Ally) Rowland, Austin Black, and Jon Rowland; her great-grandchildren, Emery, Eli, Aiden, Aubrey, Jackson, Mason, Bennett, and Kaiden.
Bettye loved gardening and the beauty of her lawn/flowers was enjoyed by many. She also loved her travels and adventures that she experienced with her niece, Linda Poole and her late husband, Junior. She loved her neighborhood of 63 years where she cherished close friendships and wonderful memories.
One of her best friends and neighbors of over 60 years was Betty Swann who was her sidekick, errand runner, shoulder to cry on, prayer partner, and the hands and feet of Jesus.
